In March 2020, the world stopped, as a global pandemic forced many businesses to close their doors.
But, even though business was ground to a halt, your hearing health needs were not, which meant it was important for us to ensure that we were doing all we could to support you during that time.
That’s why, in this article, I want to share with you some of our biggest lessons from the pandemic and the steps we have taken to ensure that we can deliver on our long-term promises to you and the hundreds of local people that trust us for all their hearing healthcare needs.

Lessons From The Pandemic
Lesson 1: Learn to pivot by embracing challenges as opportunities. We now offer services that we wouldn’t have considered needing before the pandemic (e.g. curb-side service), but these services now continue to be one of the many reasons our patients love what we do here.
Lesson 2: Focusing on our community even more than we were already was paramount. We gave over 1000 clear masks to our local independent school districts and special education co-ops to ensure those who relied on visual cues weren’t further at a disadvantage during the pandemic.
Lesson 3: You’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with. Our team really showed what they were made of during this time. We worked odd hours, made many adjustments in our protocols, and ensured patients had a smile on their faces through it all.
If anything, the pandemic made our clinic and those who work here stronger, and we’re now undoubtedly confident that we can take on anything that’s thrown at us.
We’re More Prepared Than Ever
If a situation similar to the pandemic happens again – or a local stay-at-home order is ever forced upon us (although I’m sure you’ll join me in hoping this will never be the case!), we want you to be assured that our new “pandemic protocol” means that we’re more prepared than ever, which includes:
- Implementation of stay-at-home protocols
- A hearing health hotline being available for all patients
- A home delivery service for all supplies
- Remote care protocols to provide counselling and adjustments
- Masked curb-side appointments to be available
- Utilization of technology to communicate (website and voicemail)
Looking At The Future & Our Promise To You
Simply put, we are the most trusted experts in our field here in Abilene.
I can say with confidence that our patients are not just a number to us, but they also carry a lot of weight in how we do things here.
We want our patients to feel they are not only getting the best treatment possible but that it’s also customized to their needs, which you’ll struggle to find if you buy hearing aids online or via a discount program through your insurance company.
That is how I know we will be around for years to come. People don’t want to be considered a number, especially when it comes to their health, and our promise to you is that you will always be treated as an individual.
With this continued pursuit for better, and by making patient preferences a priority, our promise is to be here for you for the long haul.
If you’re considering who to partner with and want to ensure that you choose somebody that has your back, both now and forever, I sincerely hope that this article supports you in your decision.
