Does My Child Need a Hearing Test? Pediatric Hearing Services with Holland Hearing

09/19/2024 | Patient Resources, Pediatric Hearing

As parents, we wear our hearts on our sleeves when it comes to our children. There’s nothing more worrying than your child’s health being at risk, especially with clear signs like not paying attention or not hearing you at home.

Before you panic, we’re more than happy to help with our selection of hearing care tailored for children’s needs. We ensure your child’s comfort and safety throughout the appointment’s duration, so we can get the most accurate results to alleviate your concerns.

Turn Down the Volume!

How long does your child spend watching TV, hanging out with friends playing games, or listening to music on their phone? Smartphones and earbuds may be getting smaller and smaller, but their impact on our hearing is only increasing.

Apple AirPods Max, one of the best-selling headphones on the market, can reach a max volume of 100 decibels (dB) – just twenty minutes of prolonged listening at that volume can cause considerable damage to our ears.

Of course, nobody wants to be the “uncool” parent and tell your kids to turn down the volume on the TV or the phone, but for the sake of your kid’s hearing, it might be time.

Pediatric Hearing Services – How Can Holland Hearing Help Your Child?

Our pediatric hearing services work with your child to help them (and you) look after their hearing health for the long run.

Hearing well is integral to a child’s communication skills and learning well in school; when you think about it, we rely on our hearing for far more than we think!

Listening to directions, hearing the bell ring, chatting with friends at lunch … your child needs to hear well in order to succeed both in and out of their education.

We make sure that your child is comfortable and stress-free while our team of professional audiologists tests their hearing, and your child’s treatment plan is crafted with them as the focal point. No two children are the same; your child will have options at the ready that suit their educational and extracurricular needs.

If your child has mentioned struggling to hear at school, or you’ve noticed them not listening as well at home, we’re happy to help figure out the cause. Hearing loss challenges are just one possible cause, but we can help narrow down the concern for you as a loving parent.
